Kanye West

Kanye West is certainly not new to the world, but I have grown to really respect and be inspired him over the past year. His current release has certainly made me a believer in what he says. He has gotten a bad rap over the years for having a big ego, and he has been criticized for comparing himself to some of the biggest names in music history. At first, I ignored it because I just like his music. Now, I’ve started to pay attention more. What is exactly wrong with him? I agree that there is something to be said for modesty but this guy has taken risk after risk in his career and made a name for himself. I’m the first person to be wary of someone with a big ego, but most people have the ego…not the talent. I guess if you have different music tastes, he is just going to sound like a blow hard, but 808’s and Heartbreak is the kind of album you just don’t hear. And you especially don’t hear it in the hip hop world. He took a step away from what he did musically and lyrically, and, as a fan who thought it woud be a big mistake, it ended up being successful.
I guess what inspires me the most about Knaye is that here is man that is bascially my age telling people how he feels. And, even though people want to tell him he is wrong or making a mistake, he ends up being right. He makes me realize that as a 32 year old professional, I can be right too even if people don’t believe in me. There is nothing wrong with sticking to your guns. It’s too bad I’m not a mutli-platinum recording artist.

These paper designs by Yulia Brodskaya are amazing. As I’ve gotten older, I know what my strengths and wekanesses are as an artist…I would have left something like this in a mess of glue…

Tokidoki

It’s been a while, but I guess things have been slow in the inspiration field lately. Anyway, one thing that has caught my eye recently is Tokidoki. I don’t normally get into these Japan styled characters, but these stod out for some reason. It might be how the artist, who happens to be Italian, combines them all together instead of simply letting them stand on their alone. The bold characters of the cahracters all mushed together add a level of interest I have not seen before. It doesn’t hurt that he has a collaboration going on with my favorite shoe company either…
