I’m always a sucker for pixel art. Christian Faur has taken it one step further by using Crayons as his pixels. The detail is amazing, and I love the subtle color changes wihtin picture. Whether they were really part of the original picture or merely an addition by the artist, I think it would work in either capacity.

The Crisis of Credit Visualized from Jonathan Jarvis on Vimeo.
This is a great animation explaining the beginning of the credit crisis…it’s too bad no one figured this out before…
Market Crisis
February 21, 2009 on 7:45 pm | In Inspiration, Social Commentary | No CommentsI know the “current economy” gets written about a lot, but I really liked this quote from Dan diBartolomeo from the new Wired. When asked whether or not the current crisis could have been prevented, he said:
People are investing in complex securities they don’t understand. The big failures aren’t data failures; they aren’t issues of “We don’t know.” They’re issues of “We don’t want to make the effort to be rigorous.”
Schmap
February 12, 2009 on 11:26 am | In Announcements, Photography | 1 CommentI got an email recently that said a picture I had taken of Buckingham Fountain was being considered for an entry into Schmap. I didn’t think anything of it, but they decided to publish it. My picture is not the only picture on there of Buckingham Fountain, but it’s good to know people can find your work online…if they look hard enough. Check it out here…you might have to scroll through the pictures.
Documenting Creativity

Recycled Robots

I thought these recycled robots were very well thought out. Sometimes, this kind of work can just look sloppy, but these show a sense of care and detail that is refreshing. Thanks again to Drawn!
A Quote on Obedience
February 10, 2009 on 8:47 am | In Inspiration, Social Commentary | No CommentsWith our current economic meltdown, people have asked how this could have happened. I think this quote sums it up…
When you think of the long and gloomy history of man, you will find far more hideous crimes have been committed in the name of obedience than have been committed in the name of rebellion.

YourFonts

It’s been a while, but I felt compelled to post this because THIS is really cool. YourFonts generates a font from your handwriting. It takes 15 minutes. Above, you can see the Joe Mills font. This is a MUST to try out.
